On 14-18 September 2018 we are organising a cross-border Polish-German bike ride Interreg Tour. The ride will begin on 14 September 2018 on the Polish-German-Czech (PL-CZ-DE) tri-border near Zittau and Bogatynia and will end at the Baltic Sea on the European Promenade – on the island of Usedom (Ahlbeck – Swinemünde / ÅšwinoujÅ›cie). In the ride will take part around 60-70 people (mainly from Poland and Germany). They will have to cross over 500 km within five stages / days.
The route of the ride runs through the places of the most interesting Interreg cooperation projects, as well as symbolic places for Polish-German cooperation i.e. divided and twin cities like Zgorzelec-Görlitz, Guben-Gubin and Frankfurt/Oder – SÅ‚ubice. In each of the visited places will be organized an event focused on promotion of the Interreg programmes and the effects of cross-border projects.
The main goal of the event is popularizing and promoting the effects of Polish-German cross-border projects co-financed by the budget of European Union under the Interreg programmes. This event is also a great opportunity to attract the public attention to the fact that the region of the border rivers – Oder and Nysa Åużycka – also thanks to the European Union funds is becoming more and more attractive for tourists.
The whole initiative is the result of cooperation of three Joint Secretariats – offices located in Löcknitz, in WrocÅ‚aw and Frankfurt (Oder), which were established to ensure the implementation of Polish-German Interreg programmes (Mecklenburg, Brandenburg – Poland, Poland – Saxony and Brandenburg – Poland).
