From September 26 to 28, at the conference hall of the Municipality of Portofino, there will be the kick-off of the RECONECT project, funded within the HORIZON2020 Programme.
36 partners from different European countries will be present.
On this occasion an information point will be held for the T.R.I.G-Eau project, co-funded by the Interreg Italy-France Maritime Programme. In this area, the project partners will present the actions and the results obtained so far. They will also highlight the contribution of the European Territorial Cooperation for the prevention and management of risks related to climate change.
The TRIG-Eau project tackles the issue of flood risk due to the filling of waterways and the increasing growth of urbanised areas and waterproofed surfaces with subsequent difficulties in regulating surface water outflow and the receipt of runoff flow by recipient bodies of water, aggravated by ongoing climate change. The project aims to develop the resilience of the territories by promoting green infrastructure for the management of meteorological outflows, in order to re-stabilise the water cycle, promoting infiltration and reducing the runoff effect.
The RECONECT project aims to contribute to European reference framework on Nature Based Solutions (NBS) by demonstrating, referencing and upscaling large scale NBS and by stimulating a new culture for ‘land use planning’ that links the reduction of risks with local and regional development objectives in a sustainable way. To do that, RECONECT draws upon the network of carefully selected Demonstrators and Collaborators that cover a range of local conditions, geographic characteristics, governance structures and social/cultural settings to successfully upscale NBS throughout Europe and Internationally.
